Tooth scaling is a term used to clean teeth. Do not be immediately afraid to hear this term because this dental treatment is not painful.
Basically, the tooth scaling process is easy and comfortable. However, many people do not understand the term dental scaling, so many are lazy or afraid to do so.
Dental scaling should be done routinely, 1-2 times per year. Your doctor will examine your teeth and gums, so your teeth will avoid problems such as tooth decay which can be affected by various things such as tartar or gum inflammation. In addition, doctors can immediately handle if problems are found.
In order not to be afraid to do dental scaling, you should know in advance the steps of treatment carried out by the dentist:
Mouth check
As a first step, the doctor will check the condition of your mouth as a whole. Inflamed gums or damaged teeth are two of the most common problems. The doctor will use a small mirror in the examination to be able to see the condition of the mouth more closely.
Clean the teeth
Furthermore, the process of tooth scaling is by cleaning plaque (tartar) and tartar (plaque that has hardened) that sticks to the teeth. Plaque and tartar are piled up, it is difficult to remove just by brushing your teeth or using dental floss.
The doctor will use a scaler tool to scrape the plaque between the teeth and around the gums. The process of cleaning the plaque and tartar will make you hear the slightest friction in the teeth. This is normal and not painful. The more plaque and tartar, the longer the cleaning process.
Teeth brushing stage
After cleaning the plaque and tartar, the teeth will be rinsed and brushed using an electric toothbrush. The goal is to remove plaque and tartar that are still left behind after cleaning. The way this brush works uses ordinary toothpaste that contains soft granules, so it doesn't hurt. Only, the sound of an electric toothbrush is rather loud.
Using dental floss
After completion, the doctor will make maximum clean teeth using dental floss. This process is to really make teeth clean, free of dirt stuck between the teeth.
Flushing
After the whole scaling process is finished, the doctor will rinse your mouth. You will be asked to rinse your mouth with a liquid containing fluoride, as a closing treatment.
